Privacy Policy

Arkonomy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with when you use the Arkonomy app.

1. Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide you with personalised financial insights:

Email address — used to create and identify your account.
Bank transactions — connected via Plaid. We receive read-only access to transaction history, account balances, and institution names. We do not store your bank credentials.
Financial goals and savings targets — entered manually by you within the app.
Usage data — feature interactions, error logs, and session metadata used to improve app reliability and performance. This data does not include the content of your financial transactions.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to power Arkonomy's features:

Generating AI-driven financial insights and spending summaries.
Calculating savings progress and round-up amounts.
Personalising recommendations based on your spending patterns.
Diagnosing errors and improving app performance.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your personal financial management.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure, hosted on AWS. We apply the following controls:

Encryption in transit — all data is transmitted over TLS 1.2 or higher.
Encryption at rest — all stored data is encrypted using AES-256.
Row-level security (RLS) — enforced at the database layer so each user can only access their own records, even in the event of an application-layer misconfiguration.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) — required for all production system access by Arkonomy personnel.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

4. Third-Party Services

Arkonomy integrates with the following third parties to deliver its core functionality:

Plaid

Used to securely connect your bank account and retrieve transaction data. Plaid's own privacy policy governs how it handles your financial institution credentials. plaid.com/legal/privacy-notice

Anthropic (Claude AI)

Used to generate financial insights from your anonymised spending summaries. We send aggregated financial data (not raw transactions) to Anthropic's API. anthropic.com/privacy

Stripe

Used to process subscription payments for Arkonomy Pro. Stripe handles all payment card data directly — Arkonomy never stores or processes your card details. stripe.com/privacy

Alpaca Securities LLC

Used to power optional investment account features (brokerage accounts, market orders). If you choose to connect an investment account, Alpaca — a registered broker-dealer, member FINRA/SIPC — processes your account information and trading instructions on our behalf. alpaca.markets/disclosures

Google Firebase

Used for App Check (reCAPTCHA v3), which verifies that requests to our servers come from the genuine Arkonomy app and helps prevent abuse. Firebase may process device and browser signals for this purpose. firebase.google.com/support/privacy

PostHog

Used for product analytics (feature usage, funnels) and session replay, which help us understand how the app is used and improve it. Session replay masks all financial data — dollar amounts, balances, and account numbers are never visible in recordings. We identify your account with an internal user ID only; your name and email are never sent to PostHog. This data is not used for advertising and is not shared with third parties. posthog.com/privacy

Vercel

Used to host and serve the Arkonomy web application. Vercel may process request metadata (IP address, user-agent) in the course of delivering the service. vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with any third party beyond those listed above and only to the extent necessary to provide the service.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding the personal data we hold about you:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
Deletion — request that your data be deleted.
Withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
